The New York Educator Voice Fellowship strives to provide an opportunity for legislators to observe students and teachers engaged in instruction by training New York educators to host their own Bring Your Legislator to School day events. On February 16, 2017, Assemblyman Steve Hawley visited Lyndonville Middle High School in Lyndonville, NY. This visit was coordinated by NY Policy Fellow Dr. Elissa Smith.
On February 7, 2017, Assemblyman John McDonald (108th district) visited Tech Valley High School in Albany, NY. He shared with students about his career path, from pharmacist, to mayor of Cohoes, to Assemblyman. This visit was coordinated by NY Fellow Sarah Fiess.
On December 23, 2016, New York City Councilman Carlos Menchaca visited P.S. 310 The School For Future Leaders in Brooklyn, NY. The visit was organized by Fellow and Assistant Principal Mariana Lara-Lennon.
On November 14, 2016, NY Fellow Kim Hardwick met Assemblyman Fred Thiele. Hardwick is the principal of Clayton Huey Elementary School in East Moriches, Long Island.
