John McCrann's passion for teaching math was sparked by civil rights activist Robert Moses's Radical Equations: Math Literacy and Civil Rights and developed out his two strongest professional curiosities: a) finding ways to help students reason more effectively to solve problems that interest them and b) finding ways to empower people to create a more just society.
