This week, we would like to extend a big congratulations to Fellow Tina Manus of Cohort 3! Tina, who teaches in Stratford, Connecticut, ran for a seat on the Town Council - and won!

Writes the Stratford Star, “Democrat Tina Marie Manus pulled off probably the biggest win of the night, defeating former Council Chairman Mike Henrick 647 to 505 to take the 10th District seat.”

Tina was supported in her run by teachers, nurses, and public service professionals. AFT Connecticut endorsed Tina, saying in a press release, “Citing her commitment to working families' issues, members of the nearly 30,000-strong AFT Connecticut are supporting Tina Manus to serve as the District 10 representative on Stratford's town council.” The release quotes the AFT Connecticut president saying, “Tina has an impressive resume as a longtime advocate for teachers and their students both here at home and across the country.”

Tina credits the Fellowship with the inspiration to run, and the support to keep going through tough campaign moments. We are very proud of Tina’s accomplishment and excited to see the impact she has as an elected official.
