The Fellowship Experience
Fellows participate in conferences as well as virtual trainings to help them be successful in impacting policy and public conversation. Fellows also have access to coaching and shared resources to deepen advocacy and communication skills.
Fellows collaborate with other top educators from their state and the Fellowship opens doors for Fellows to share their expertise with policymakers and education leaders. Fellows can also reach the public by writing op-eds, blogs, and more.
Fellow have opportunities to advise policymakers and meet with education leaders to help shape policy related to equity and access to a great education for all students, high-quality academic standards and aligned assessments, and advancing the teaching profession.
At our conferences, Fellows receive communications and advocacy training and policy briefings. Workshops may include Understanding Education Policy, Testifying at the Capitol, Strategies for Engaging Policymakers, Opinion Writing and Blogging, Twitter 101, and Media Training.
- June - July 2017: Written application due
- July - August 2017: Interview with program staff
- Summer 2017: Selection of new cohorts
- September 2017: Welcome conference
- September 2017 – summer 2018: Fellows complete advocacy activities, host legislators in their school, and participate in webinars and regional meetings
In addition to gaining access to top-notch training and a large network of high-performing educators, Fellows receive a stipend for participating in the Fellowship meetings and reimbursements for expenses incurred while completing Fellowship-related activities.
